Ella Mae Joyce, age 88, of Goose Creek, SC, formerly of Pikeville, KY, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017 in the soft surrounding of her family. Mae was born to the late William and Lenora “Hix” Joyce in Floyd County, KY on May 5, 1929.
Besides both parents, Mae is preceded in death by two siblings, Jay Joyce and Stella Harris.
Mae is survived by her best friend and sister, Agnes E. Collins; & two special nephews who were like sons to her, Gary Collins and his wife, Paula and Dr. William Collins and his wife, Pam; as well as a loving host of nieces and nephews.
She was the manager of G.C. Murphy Store in downtown Pikeville when she later moved with her sister, Agnes to South Carolina. Mae lived a full life, enjoying it with her devoted sister and beloved poodle, Tinker Bell.
The family will accept friends at Thacker Memorial Chapel Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at 6:00 PM with services beginning at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 1:00 PM also here at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at the J.U. Thacker Mausoleum on Annie E. Young Cemetery in Pikeville, KY. Clark Halstead will be the officiant of all services honoring the life of Ella Mae Joyce.
