Melsa Jane Collins Thompson, 92, of Radcliff, KY formerly of Pikeville, KY passed away from this life Saturday, January 13, 2018 in Pikeville, KY. She was born November 8, 1925 to the late William “Bud” & Arvy Ramey Blackburn in Pikeville, KY.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her Husband: Paul Raymond Thompson; one Son: Mike Collins; two Sisters: Elsia May & Velva Ratliff; one Brother: Mark Lowe and one Nephew: Randall Spears.
Melsa is survived by her Son: Paul David (Loretta) Collins of Pikeville, KY; three Grandsons: James (Cassandra) Collins, Matthew Collins & Adam Collins all of Pikeville, KY; one Niece: Ruth (Larry) Phipps of Marrowbone, KY; one Nephew: Glenn Dale Ratliff of Lexington, KY; Four Great-Grandchildren and One Great-Great-Grandchild.
Melsa was an active member of the Radcliff Assembly of God. She enjoyed writing poetry and has written and published a book of poems. She has visited the Holy Land twice. At age 79 she traveled over 5,000 miles on a 10 day road trip with her Husband and another couple. She was always ready for an adventure.
The family will accept friends at the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 6PM. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 1PM with Gary Brakebill officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery, Pikeville, KY.
