Obituary for Roy Easterling

Steve “Roy” Easterling, 87 of Rockhouse, KY passed away Friday, March 2, 2018 at the St. Mary Hospital in Huntington, WVA.
Roy was born December 25, 1930 in Carter County, KY to the late Henry & Ida “Fields” Easterling.
He served his country proudly in the US Army and was retired from the Pike County School Board. Roy was a member of the Unity FWB Church & he served as Sunday School Superintendent for over thirty years.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Lucille K. Easterling, one son Roy Dean Easterling & all his siblings, five brothers, Everett, Bill, Winfield, Henry Jr, & Frank Easterling; four sisters, Goldie Coleman, Dora James, Emily White & Sophia Easterling.
Roy is survived by his loving children, two sons, Steve Easterling of Pikeville, KY & Troy Easterling of Shelby Valley, two daughters Katherine Easterling & Donna Easterling both of Rockhouse, KY, three adoring grandchildren, Lori Beth Day & her husband Johnny, Cody Justice & Emily Justice, & five great-grandchildren, Jayden Blair, Lexie Grace Day, Jayce Day, Cash Day, & Liam Day.
He was devoted to his family and will be forever loved and missed.
The family will accept friends, Saturday at 6PM, March 3, 2018 at the Unity Freewill Baptist Church on Rockhouse and Sunday with services each night at 7PM. The funeral will be Monday at 1:00 P.M. on March 5, 2018 with Mike Coleman, Delon Jones & Roger Lawson & others officiating all services. DAV Honors will be observed by the DAV Elkhorn City Chapter #140. Burial will follow on the Annie E. Young Cemetery at Pikeville, KY.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers, make donations to the Unity FWB Church Building Fund.
